Jimmie Duffy
Jimmie Duffy...what a guy! For 20 years, Jimmie has generously devoted his heart to our kids.
Jimmie came to the Center because of his passion for cars. Jimmie's love for cars started at childhood and was later the reason behind his decision to join friends in organizing a car show. However, having a show for the sake of having a show was not enough for Jimmie. His charitable heart prompted him to select the Blind Childrens Center as the cause that would benefit from the show because of his belief that children's charities were the heart and soul of our future.
Twenty years later, the Center's children continue to benefit from his dedication, commitment, and love for helping others.
Although Jimmie's spare time is usually spent restoring cars in his collection or helping others restore cars, Jimmie always finds time for the Blind Childrens Center.
He has spent countless hours, throughout the years, working on the program book, his pet project benefitting the Center. Take a moment to appreciate tonight's beautifully-designed program book which would not have happened without his tireless efforts.
While Jimmie has always been an on-the-go kind of guy, the time he has given to the Center has raised an estimated $300,000.
It's true that Jimmie's passion for cars and helping others are high on his list, yet nothing holds a candle to his son, Jimmie IV who is attending California State Berkeley.
Jimmie Duffy III is a true friend of the Center, a friendship that we will forever treasure and hold dear to our hearts.
We thank you Steve, Jimmie, and our past Steve Garvey Spirit of Light Award recipients, Marion Yoshida and Rosalinda Mendiola. It is your wonderful spirit that will help us Light the Way for our children today, tomorrow, and in years to come! Congratulations to you all!
