Midge Horton
More than 25 years ago, Midge Horton gave her heart to the Blind Childrens Center and then she gave her life's work, too. Midge began her career at the Center as a volunteer in the classroom. She then became a member of the Board of Directors, serving as president of the board from 1980 to 1982. As President, Midge spent many hours at the Center assisting in all aspects of the Center's programs and management. In 1983, Midge joined the staff and since then has worn many hats from executive secretary and office manager to development director and on to executive director.
Midge's influence on the quality of the program, staff, volunteers and board members has been profound. The Center has benefitted from Midge's expertise and commitment to excellence. Her leadership has resulted in strong stable innovative programs. Presently, the Center has a highly motivated and competent professional staff and a prominent working board of community leaders in health care, business, and the professions. Working together, they have brought the Center into the forefront as one of the most effective and influential organizations in the field of blindness.
All of Midge's efforts are motivated by her commitment and desire to help our children and families. She brings love, talent and dedication with her everyday as she continues the mission of Delta Gamma and the Blind Childrens Center.
Her staff and everyone she touches, has the highest professional respect and personal regard for Midge. She is the light that we all follow, the heart that we wish to emulate and the very soul of the Blind Childrens Center.
We are exceedingly grateful for Midge's personal dedication to the Blind Childrens Center and our children. Congratulations Midge! You truly are our Spirit of Light!
