Rosalinda Mendiola
Rosalinda Mendiola has been at the Blind Childrens Center since 1991. When she started in our program she was a classroom teacher for 5 years. She has been the Teacher of the Visually Impaired at the Blind Childrens Center since 1996. Rosalinda has a BA degree in Child Development, has a Certificate in Infant Mental Health, and has completed extensive work in the VI master/credential program. Prior to coming to the Center, she taught for five years in the Head Start Program as a master teacher and three years for the Montebello School District as a bilingual kindergarten teacher.
Ms. Mendiola has presented at numerous conferences nationwide and is a frequent panel member at California Transcribers & Educators of the Blind and Visually Impaired (CTEBVI). She has also been published by the journal REview and is a co-writer of one of our publications "A Unique Way or Learning."
At the Center, Ms. Mendiola works with all the teachers to varying degrees from attending doctor appointments with parents in the infant program, making tactual adaptations and classroom accommodations for students in the preschool program, and preparing daily worksheets Braille or large print worksheets for the students in the elementary grades. Additionally she trains students to use adaptive equipment in order to participate fully in the curriculum. Each aspect of her work requires specialized training in order to prepare each student to function at their full potential.
We are grateful to Rosalinda for her dedication that helps us Light the Way for our children today, and for all their lives.
