Making the
Sensational Happen
One touch, one sound, one experience at a time

Letter from the Chairperson

Dear Friend,

It is with great excitement that I share the news of the Blind Childrens Center’s Building Campaign: Making the Sensational Happen. Since 1938 the Center has been a beacon of hope and light for the families of visually impaired children. It is a place where the sensational happens everyday: one touch, one sound, and one experience at a time.

I know because when I first learned of the Center, it felt as if heaven’s doors had opened. After years of struggling with bureaucratic red tape, waiting lists, and the lack of resources that public schools offered children like my son, we had arrived at a place where we knew he would thrive — a place where sensational things were happening.

What distinguishes the Center from other organizations serving disabled children is our focus; the Blind Childrens Center is quite simply the best at educating children with visual impairments. We have developed expertise over seven decades, employing a singular commitment to these children and their families and an overwhelming sense of love and purpose in our mission.

As you turn the pages of this brochure and see the images of the children who have filled our lives, I know you will share my enthusiasm. Our past empowers us to move forward, and students and alumni like Jennifer and Kyra (whom you will meet) inspire us to ensure that the next generations of Blind Childrens Center students and families have every opportunity to thrive in a sighted world.

I invite you to join me in my commitment to our Building Campaign. Together, we can make sensational things happen!

On behalf of the children and families we serve,

Ina Zec
