A family-centered agency serving children with visual impairments
IN THIS ISSUE
January brought with it a new program: The Junior Mentor Program. Karen Arcos and Carlos M. Martinez Jr., two children who are graduates of the program (and the offspring of our two original Parent Mentors), were present for an entire week at our Center. They assisted teacher Rosalinda with Visual Impairment activities, teacher Betty with Orientation & Mobility activities, presented as a panel to the Parent Group, did a consult with a family, and participated in large group circle time playing music while the children sang, and read stories in Braille.
The Junior Mentors were fabulous. They provided our children with model coaching opportunities, and provided hope to families. We were all thrilled to host the program. We hope to repeat it during the Spring break.
