A family-centered agency serving children with visual impairments
IN THIS ISSUE
Our first annual “Night at the Theater” event was a grand success thanks to the generosity of James A. Blackman III and the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities. Guests attended the opening night performance of Grease. There was a cocktail reception before the show and a cast party immediately following. The Center plans to make this great night an annual event.

Mark Hansen of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing California presents Executive Director Midge Horton with a generous donation.

The LAPD Centurion football team hosted the Fall Family Picnic for the students and families. The afternoon was filled with lots of food and fun! The Centurions presented a check for $5,000 to the Center.
Thank you LAPD Centurions!

Jazz great Kenny Rankin gave another fantastic concert to benefit the Center. This year Carlos M. Martinez Jr., former Blind Childrens Center student, performed as well.

Attorney Ollie Cantos, Blind Childrens Center graduate and Board Member, was named Special Assistant to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in Washington, DC.
Among various duties, Ollie will play a key role in strengthening national outreach efforts to disability organizations, expanding the list of jurisdictions under Project Civic Access, and increasing the number of state building codes to become ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) certified.
We have just what you need!
