A family-centered agency serving children with visual impairments
IN THIS ISSUE
This year the Center started a second Kindergarten Classroom and I'm so thrilled to be the teacher. The year started off with a bang and has been so much fun. We follow the structured state curriculum. The systematic learning of word sounds, syllables, social studies, math, and science has been very rewarding. The children are full of energy and excitement.
Our class is fully inclusive incorporating sighted and visually impaired children. The group moves forward at a balanced rhythm with accommodations made for each individual child. The sighted children have been amazingly supportive, sensitive and encouraging in rendering help to their visually impaired peers. The children become aware that each child learns in a different way. They have been wonderful, helping each other with turn taking, prompting, and cheerleading.
